ATHEIST COMPLETELY DESTROYS CREATIONIST ON CNN, we all need to take notes and follow in his example.

This isn’t a debate, it’s a joke and Creationism only inspires intellectual laziness because science is hard, and it actually does challenge the mind to think critically about issues such as the origin of life and the age of our beautiful planet. There is no controversy, there is only fact and I understand that it is easier to throw up the Earth science book and say that whichever god you believe in did it, but you’re wrong.

Horus saved humanity first. Where’s your originality?

Horus was the shit; lost one of his eyes, killed his father’s murderer AND FUCKED SHIT UP. And he had all of Jesus’ powers also. Beat that shit, J.C.

Faith: Bullets are real. Your god is not.

sarahshikari:

Well I haven’t figured out how to do the read more shit.

But yeah so let me give you a little background. I grew up Catholic, right? Then when I was 13, I became an atheist as a side effect of my super emo bullshit personality. Then, when I was 14, my best friend Kelsey told me to come to youth group with her, just to see how I’d like it. And I loved it, I actually started believing in God again. But now lately, I’ve been talking to a bunch of people and reading things on tumblr from people who are atheists, and it just makes so much sense. I feel so horrible, though. It’s like, I feel as if I just let all of this bullshit go, I’ll be letting my friends at youth group down. I even promised I’d come back when it starts back up this fall. But I just have no idea. I’m scared to death that I’m wasting my life believing in something that isn’t real, but I’m just as scared to let it go and find out I was right all along after I die. It seems like such bullshit, am I crazy for thinking so much about this? I just don’t know what to do with myself. I don’t know what to believe. Part of me thinks that it’s all imaginary bullshit, but part of me still thinks about miracles and other shit like that.
I just need some people to talk to. An atheist who knows what they’re talking about and a Christian who knows what they’re talking about. Because I can’t keep going back and forth on this forever. It’s driving me crazy.

I would love to give you a point of view from a nie 30 year old, blissfully happy atheist. Married with a nie four year old. Stable relationship for eight years. Respectable, kind and loving human being. All without the promise of heaven or the threat of hell.

… If you still need/would like an atheist perspective. I don’t have all the answers, but truly, that is one of the more wonderful things about life. Learning. <3

Wonderfully written answer…

Hello

Just a question? in reply to your question to Anon on the 19th july you replied that it was a verse where according to you “It’s Jesus telling his followers to kill the non-believers.”

Even a incredibly short look at the teachings and actions of Jesus would make it obvious that this is totally not the correct interpretation of that verse. We are talking about the man who told his followers that all who live by the sword die by the sword. the man who taught turn the other cheek and to love your enemies. Gandhi and Martin Luther King two of the greatest non-violent men of recent times were inspired by the teachings of Jesus.

to say that Jesus wanted his followers to kill non believers is to totally ignore the teachings of the man

Hi, hereforianyouth!  Thanks for the ask!

So, let’s look at Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a great man, a great philosopher, a great speaker.  He was also to have shown to have plagiarized parts of his doctoral thesis.  Do I think that takes away from his ideas, philosophies, or positive actions?  No.  However, should we forget he’s done anything wrong and pretend he was perfect?  No.

I see this thinking a lot in politics as well.   Even if you’re an Obama supporter, you should see some of the things he’s done that aren’t so great.  Same goes if you were a Bush or Reagan fan, or whatever.

And, even in the opposite direction, Hitler wasn’t pure evil.  He created the autobahn and started kindergarten system and unified his people.  Do I think that erases the fact that he oversaw the murdering of millions of people?  No.  However, you should look at both sides when looking at anybody.  People are complicated!

If Jesus was a real person and the Bible was an accurate reflection of his life, I still wouldn’t say that he was a bad person.  I think, overall, he had a good philosophy and was kind, especially for his time.  I do not think he was perfect, however.  And, I do not think he’s worthy of worship.

I think a lot of people have a problem with my blog because they have preconceived notions about God, Jesus, and the Bible.  Many people tend to put people into categories of “good” and “bad.”  Since you see Jesus as in the “good” category, you dismiss a verse where he clearly does something wrong.  I’ve seen this over and over again with many different verses.  Christians don’t tend to look at the Bible objectively.  They tend to read verses that they don’t agree with and say, “Well, there’s got to be another explanation for this verse.  It was probably just a metaphor or a mistranslation, etc.”

The verse is listed below.

But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here and kill them in front of me.

It’s pretty clear.  You can ignore it if you want, but it’s still there.  It’s still in your Bible And, it’s straight from Jesus’s mouth.

I’m sorry if my insensitivity towards your beliefs offend you.

But guess what – your religious wars, jihads, crusades, inquisitions, censoring of free speech, brainwashing of children, murdering of albinos, forcing girls into underage marriages, female genital mutilation, stoning, pederasty, homophobia and rejection of science and reason offend me.

So I guess we’re even.
